5A - Creativity in the English language classroom
"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon - Literature meets art meets creative writing |
As two of the four major language skills in English language learning, reading and writing are ubiquitous in the EFL classroom. When reading Mark Haddon's 2003 mystery novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time with my English class 5A, we decided to take a different approach: While reading the book, the students created their own literature portfolios consisting of a variety of creative (writing) tasks for the them to choose from, thus combining literature with art and creative writing and producing some rather impressive results.
